Percy Diaz
Steering Committee Member
Throughout Percy’s long-distinguished career, the work to share and learn truths, create spaces of healing in which we can all recognize our common humanity, and our interconnectedness has been pivotal. Percy came to United Nations Colonization Memorial - Steering Committee after over 15 years of progressive leadership roles in and outside of language services, both domestically and internationally, including work in Peru and Chile.
Fluent in English, Spanish, and French, Percy has a track record of documenting, analyzing, and preserving endangered languages by conducting fieldwork, establishing literacy programs, and collaborating with language communities around the world to help revitalize their languages.
Most recently, he worked as an independent consultant providing valuable services to Amazon, the largest online retailer and technology provider. Prior to Amazon, Diaz worked with Uber Technologies, Inc., commonly referred to as Uber, the largest ridesharing company around the world with headquarters in San Francisco, California. Before joining Uber, Diaz worked with FedEx Corporation, formerly Federal Express Corporation and later FDX Corporation - an American multinational conglomerate holding company focused on transportation, e-commerce and business services based in Memphis, Tennessee.
Previously, Percy worked with civil society and international development organizations in South America, where he was involved in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals campaign to end poverty and protect the planet. He also taught English as a second language at the Learn English Ministry of St Laurence Catholic Church, helping many immigrants coming to the United States to speak English.
Percy is a member of Diplome Francais des Affaires 1er Degree, member of the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIP), and a member of the International Honor Society - Golden Key.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Business Administration from the University of Houston.
