A veteran of the US Army, Jose led a team at the United States Marine Corps, serving four years honorable discharge. He was a Squad Leader and Weapon Specialist at Camp Pendleton in California, where he developed a quality-driven culture, boosting team performance/efficiency, and maintaining a highly satisfied workforce. He also advised Marines on operations, intelligence, and risk assessments during daily briefings.

After faithfully and patriotically performed his duties and conducted himself in a manner of benefit to his branch, Jose transitioned from the Army to a Patrol Field Training Officer at the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office in Richmond Texas, where he worked for nine years.

Among other key duties, his work included communicating the expectations of training, teaching trainee policies of the department, and correctly applying concepts learned in the classroom to the everyday duties of an officer.

With the goal of producing competent, skilled, and dedicated officers capable of working solo, Jose maintained communications with staff, and interviewed criminal targets/witnesses to acquire data relevant to investigations.

His leadership extends to both the public and private sectors where he has demonstrated the ability to manage multi-stakeholders, understand complex issues and lead the implementation of industry-wide and sector-leading solutions.

He was Project Manager at EGA Enterprises LLC., Houston with direct responsibility to coordinate tasks, inspect and file claims for storm-related damages, whilst ensuring compliance with all company policies and regulatory requirements.

Previously he was Sales Manager at the Tile Zone - a family-operated business that has been serving the major Houston area with A+ rated flooring and remodeling services since 2003. Here, he conducted research, partnered with suppliers, negotiated beneficial cost-savings and set structures to achieve profit targets.

Prior to the above role, Jose was Assistant Store Manager at Walgreens, an American company that operates one of the largest pharmacy store chains in the country. He provided vital support to the company as it faced the complex, multifaceted COVID-19 challenges.

In addition to the above, his work spanned a wide range of community development issues including an enduring partnership with the Catholic Church Freemason, where he was a youth minister, and Knights of Columbus Officer – dealing with a wide portfolio of complex and sensitive matters, including environmental, social, sustainability, safety, and fundraising for scholarship.

Jose is recognized as an organizational leader, great mentor, and a professional role model. In 1999 he was the first Marine in the Platoon to get promoted meritoriously to NCO. Two years later he received the Marine Corps most accomplished Assault Climber Award.

Jose brings to the Steering Committee more than 20 years of experience managing complex projects and teams, a reputation for innovative and strategic thinking, and a unique Marine Corps perspective.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Fitness and Human Performance from University of Houston-Clear Lake, and Master of Liberal Arts, Political Science from the University of St. Thomas, in Houston Texas.
