Throughout Valeria’s long-distinguished career that span education, financial services, community mobilization, risk management, and organizational leadership (not exclusively), improving people’s lives has been a hallmark.

Valeria is a Senior Marketing Director at World Financial Group (WFG), a multi-level marketing financial and insurance services company which sells investment, insurance, and various other financial products through a network of distributors in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

In this role she analyzes clients’ information and makes suitable product recommendations. She also formulates complex concepts that drive results, develop, and leads a comprehensive marketing acquisition strategy that reinforces WFG’s culture, promote corporate values, and strengthen the institution’s mission to help individuals and families achieve financial independence.

Before joining WFG, Valeria was Adjunct Professor at Houston Community College (HCC), a public institution of higher education system that offers high-quality, affordable education in Houston, Missouri City, Greater Katy, and Stafford in Texas. At HCC she taught English language from 2005 to 2016 and was a discipline expert with responsibility to develop and propose solutions for curriculum, degree requirements, and other aspects of student learning.

Prior to this role, she was Adjunct Professor at Texas Southern University (TSU), a historically Black public university in Houston, Texas, one of the largest and most comprehensive Black universities in the United States with nearly 8,000 students enrolled and over 100 academic programs.

At TSU she taught Developmental English, provided academic advice to students, developed syllabus and teaching materials, and assisted with projects, research, and other departmental programs.

Valeria was also Assistant Instructor at the University of Yaoundé 1, a public university in Cameroon, located in the capital Yaoundé. At the University of Yaoundé 1, she taught English as a second language (ESL), Sociolinguistics and Syntax, a branch of linguistics.

Over the course of Valeria’s long professional career, she has been an active and respected community organizer - both domestically and internationally, including work in Africa and the United Kingdom, mobilizing and empowering community members to identify key needs and collectively resolve them.

A visionary servant leader with a unique empowerment strategy to strengthen people’s capacity to work together to solve social problems and make the world a better place, she has developed numerous helpful programs, enlisted huge community support for causes, and created enormous positive social impact.

Currently, she is Secretary of the African Immigrant Houston Police Department Advisory Board; Vice President of the Bali Cultural Association (BCA-USA); Pioneer President of Cameroon Northwest Women of Texas; Assumption Cameroon Catholic Community-Assistant Choir Director and Secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council at St Nicholas Catholic Church in Downtown Houston. Previously, she was Secretary General of BCA- USA for four years, and President of LESA Houston, the Alumni Association of Our Lady of Lourdes Secondary School, Mankon, Bamenda Cameroon - Houston Chapter, where she served for four years championing girls' education & empowerment.

Valeria brings to the Steering Committee a demonstrated record of building successful teams from bottom-up with a unique servant leadership style. She holds a BA in English, an MA in Applied Linguistics, and a PhD in Organizational Leadership.
