Dr. Christine Schwyn Harrison is a seasoned anti-racism and equity consultant with over 30 years of hands-on and leadership experience. She began her career at the University of Houston (UH) in 1983, where she served as Assistant Dean of Students, Director of New Student Orientation, Assistant Director of Admission, Judicial Advisor, and Ombudsman.

After eight years at UH, Christie held leadership positions in several community development organizations, including the Greater Houston Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA), an international organization that serves more than 64 million people in 120 countries. Guided by core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, she helped YMCA in its quest to create the next generation of changemakers by responding to community needs with programs and services that empower people to reach their full potential with dignity.

Christie later became an Organizational Development and Human Resources Business Consultant; Learning and Development Specialist and Client Relationship Manager for Insperity Inc., a Houston headquartered professional services organization that serves more than 100,000 businesses across the United States. During two decades at Insperity, she was highly skilled at identifying, creating, developing, and delivering solutions that meet customers’ wants and needs.

At the core of Christie’s long-distinguished career that span racial justice, anti-racism community development, nonprofit management and higher education is a selfless commitment to racial healing.  Christie strongly believes that through racial healing, we can forge deep, meaningful relationships, lay the groundwork to transform broken systems, and create a community in which, together, we are a new force for positive change.  

To advance a new era of truth, inform contemporary discussions of race relations, and help the world recover from centuries of racial injustice, she became an Executive Coach, Training Facilitator and later Strategic Advisor at the Center for Healing Racism in Houston, Texas.

As Strategic Advisor for the Center’s Anti-racism Leadership Program, Christie supports individuals and executive leadership teams in their journey to understand different forms of racism and its impact on their lives and business success.

With a track record of acknowledging and telling the truth about past wrongs created by individual and systemic racism and addressing its present consequences, she brings to the Steering Committee a deep knowledge of racial healing strategies and tools that can facilitate trust and build authentic relationships that bridge divides created by real and perceived differences.

Christie holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, TX, a Master of Education; Leadership and Culture from the University of Houston, TX, another MA in Organizational Development and Change from Fielding Graduate University in Santa Barbara, California and a PhD in Human Development, Inclusive Leadership for Social Justice from Fielding Graduate University in Santa Barbara, California.
